Australia’s first Vector Fin
fitted by AMI Marine
a METS DAME
Overall Winner Award
in Amsterdam for
their contribution to
Fins represent the best
in craftsmanship and
value for money.
According to the
jur y; “Sleipner Motor
has thought out of the
box to produce a fin that better suits many of
the modern hull forms to which stabilisers are
becoming a standard fit. The elegant curved
shape of the fin beneficially directs force to
improve roll reduction and decrease the side
effects of yaw and sway. It also increases the
leverage arm around the vessel’s rolling point
and minimises drag.”
The Vector Fins were installed on the
new 63 foot Ocean 640 Sports Yacht by AMI
technicians for Darwin owners, who can look
forward to the fins providing excellent control
and manoeuvrability in all weather conditions.

From a Vendetta to a Dolce
Never a dull moment when you get to
know Pierre Gal (Offshore Sails in Coffs
Harbour) and his offsider and close friend
Jan Scholten was lucky to get a taste of
their “ready, aim, shoot” attitude sailing Kiss
to a number of handicap and line honour
wins in the sports boat class. Bored with
that experience they did a near swap with an
Ingles 47 lying in Cairns with a long history.
Launched as Vendetta in Mornington
some 25 years (Mal Hart built) changing to
Wild and now re-launched as Dolce after
spending 17 month in the re-arranged sail
loft undergoing a complete re-build only
sparing the original hull.
Lighter and faster than ever using a
brand new Selden Rig sporting long swept
back spreaders with chain plates out to
gunnels. Pierre and Dough are over the
moon with her performance and looks. Jan
can’t wait to join them later this year during
one of the Whitsunday regattas.
